Shakak Shapira - Comedian

Hosted by: Saba-Nur Cheema, Meron Mendel

Abdul Kader Chahin was born in Siegburg as the child of Palestinian refugees and spent seven years with his family living in a hostel for asylum seekers in Duisburg. Now he brings stories from the plattenbaus on stage as a comedian and poetry slammer as well as commenting on contemporary politics. He has been active for many years in campagining against anti-Semitism and for remembrance of the shoah and nakba.

Shahak Shapira grew up in Israel and emigrated to Germany with his family. He is a stand-up comedian, satirist, author and artist. His artistic and political actions and works critically examine topics including Germany’s culture of remembrance, his own experiences of anti-Semitic violence and the “selective humanism” of a one-sided empathy with victims.
