Introducing: Jazzfest Community Lab Moabit
To mark its 60th anniversary, Jazzfest Berlin is celebrating the cultural diversity of the neighbouring district of Moabit in collaboration with 38 official partners and initiatives and with over 350 participants of all ages. For six months, numerous doors were knocked on, contact was made with neighbourhood shops and cafés, music schools and choirs, churches and schools as well as a wide variety of cultural venues, and together they came up with ways to celebrate the festival’s birthday. In June 2024, interviews were conducted with 20 partners who presented their perspectives, wishes and ideas for the Jazzfest Community Lab Moabit. You can get a first impression with this film.
The Jazzfest Community Lab Moabit will take place from 28 October to 3 November at over 25 locations throughout Moabit, creating a bridge between the Haus der Berliner Festspiele in Wilmersdorf and Moabit, bringing together 40 musicians from this year’s edition of the festival as well as 20 interdisciplinary workshop leaders along with children, adults, senior citizens, amateur musicians and neighbourhood legends.
The Jazzfest Community Lab Moabit is supported by the Federal Agency for Civic Education/bpb.
