Vladimir Jurowski in conversation with Uwe Friedrich

Vladimir Jurowski is the conductor of two orchestras rich in tradition – both are celebrating anniversaries this year. The core of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, of which Jurowski has been chief conductor since 2017, first came together 100 years ago. The Bayerische Staatsorchester, which has played in many different guises over the centuries, can look back on 500 years of orchestral history – Jurowski has been its general music director since 2021. Vladimir Jurowski talks to music journalist Uwe Friedrich about the fundamentally different backgrounds of his two orchestras and how the traditions of the orchestras will make themselves felt at the Musikfest Berlin 2023.
