Terrible Sounds – A Triptych
Video work by Philip Rizk & Nadah El Shazly

This audiovisual meditation on Egypt’s fraught colonial history by German-Egyptian film maker Philip Rizk is guided by a new recording featuring polymath Hartmut Geerken with Nadah El Shazly, Maurice Louca, Ayman Asfour and Sharif Sehnaoui. The new sessions are an homage to a rare 1971 experimental recording that included Geerken and Egyptian army general and jazz drummer Salah Ragab. Rizk spins the various elements together for this special Jazzfest Berlin commission.
